NATIONAL PARK SERVICE ISSUES NOTICE: NOTICE OF INTENDED REPATRIATION: UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY, BERKELEY, CA, AND NAVAL BASE VENTURA COUNTY SAN NICOLAS ISLAND, VENTURA COUNTY, CA

WASHINGTON, July 29 -- National Park Service has issued a notice called: Notice of Intended Repatriation: University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, and Naval Base Ventura County San Nicolas Island, Ventura County, CA.

The notice was published in the Federal Register on July 29 by Melanie O'Brien, Manager, National NAGPRA Program.

Summary: In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the University of California, Berkeley and Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) intend to repatriate certain cultural items that meet the definition of unassociated funerary objects and that have a cultural affiliation with the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations in this notice.
