WASHINGTON, Aug. 21 -- National Park Service has issued a notice called: Notice of Intended Repatriation: Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum, Ignacio, CO.
The notice was published in the Federal Register on Aug. 21 by Melanie O'Brien, Manager, National NAGPRA Program.
Summary: In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum (SUCCM) intends to repatriate certain cultural items that meet the definition of sacred objects and that have a cultural affiliation with the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations in this notice.
