WASHINGTON, May 30 -- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a proposed rule called: Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 204; Steering Control Rearward Displacement.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on May 30 by Peter Simshauser, Chief Counsel.

Summary: NHTSA is proposing to amend Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 204, Steering Control Rearward Displacement, so that it no longer applies to vehicles that are certified to the frontal barrier crash protection requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, Occupant Crash Protection.
