WASHINGTON, July 1 -- Mine Safety and Health Administration has issued a proposed rule called: Improving and Eliminating Regulations; Permissible Lamps in Underground Coal Mines.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on July 1 by James P. McHugh, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy, Mine Safety and Health Administration.

Summary: MSHA is proposing to revise 30 CFR part 75 by removing duplicative requirements for electric cap lamps and other electric lamps in underground coal mines. These changes would clarify the permissibility requirements for electric cap lamps and other lamps while maintaining safety protections for miners using such equipment.
