Today, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) introduced a resolution designating September 19, 2026, as Black Autism Acceptance and Awareness Day. The resolution highlights the persistent racial inequities in the diagnosis and treatment of Black autistic children, and advocates the importance of amplifying the voices of Black autistic individuals.

It also offers that true acceptance means culturally competent care, challenging existing biases, building community, and providing equitable access to resources and opportunities.
