WASHINGTON, Jan. 20 -- Sen. Amy Klobuchar issued the following news release:

U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith (D-MN) announced that Congress approved $750,000 in funding for Polk County. This funding will create a regionalized drinking water system for the area. The legislation now goes to the President's desk to be signed into law.

"The federal funding we secured will help Polk County address ongoing water quality issues and create a water system to provide the area with safe, clean drinking water for decades to come," said Klobuchar.

"Clean water is an essential part of healthy, thriving communities," said Smith. "I was glad to help Polk County secure funding for this vital water infrastructure project."
