Today, during a Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee hearing, Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) grilled Department of Treasury Secretary - who is also serving as Acting Director of the IRS - Scott Bessent on his conflicts of interest in Trump's lawsuits against his own federal government.
Senator Gallego questioned Secretary Bessent about President Trump's lawsuit seeking $10 billion from the IRS. During the exchange, Bessent admitted that if Trump were to win or settle the lawsuit, U.S. taxpayers would foot the bill.
