WASHINGTON, July 1 -- Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a rule called: Removal of Pumped Bacon Sampling Regulations.

The rule was published in the Federal Register on July 1 by Denise Eblen, Acting Deputy Under Secretary for the Office of Food Safety.

Summary: FSIS is amending the Federal meat inspection regulations to remove the provisions providing for FSIS' sampling and testing of pumped bacon for nitrosamines. FSIS stopped sampling for nitrosamines in 1998.
