WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 -- Sen. Deb Fischer issued the following op-ed:
U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE) joined Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and 34 Senate Republican colleagues in introducing the Back the Blue Act, which would increase penalties for criminals who target law enforcement officers and provide new tools for officers to protect themselves.
"Every day, our law enforcement officers step into danger to keep Nebraskans safe. Anyone who targets law enforcement should be brought to swift justice. That's why I joined my Republican colleagues in introducing the Back the Blue Act, which holds criminals accountable and sends a clear message that we will not tolerate attacks on our brave men and women in blue," Fischer said.
