WASHINGTON, May 30 -- Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has issued a proposed rule called: Parts and Accessories Necessary for Safe Operation; Fuel Tank Overfill Restriction.
The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on May 30 by Sue Lawless, Assistant Administrator.
Summary: FMCSA proposes to remove the requirement in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) that a liquid fuel tank manufactured on or after January 1, 1973, be designed and constructed so that it cannot be filled, in a normal filling operation, with a quantity of fuel that exceeds 95 percent of the tank's liquid capacity.
