WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 -- Environmental Protection Agency has issued a proposed rule called: Air Plan Approval; Michigan; Detroit 2010 Sulfur Dioxide Redesignation and Maintenance Plan.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on Aug. 14 by Anne Vogel, Regional Administrator, Region 5.

Summary: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to find that the Detroit, Michigan area is attaining the 2010 sulfur dioxide (SO 2) National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) and to act in accordance with a request from Michigan to redesignate the area to attainment for the 2010 SO 2NAAQS, because the request meets the statutory requirements for redesignation under the Clean Air Act (CAA).
