Congressman Jefferson Shreve (R-IN) introduced the In Good Standing Adoption Act to expand resources for mothers considering adoption and to help ensure children are placed safely and responsibly.
Currently, the federal government does not maintain a public list of adoption agencies, leaving mothers without a reliable way to fully explore their options. Too often, the process begins with a simple Google search - an approach that can expose families to bad actors who manipulate mothers and adoptive families in need. Congressman Shreve's bill addresses this gap by creating a publicly available list of licensed adoption agencies.
