Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted in favor of the House amendment to S. 1383, legislation known as the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), which strengthens federal election safeguards by requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
"Election integrity should be the easiest issue in American politics," said Congressman Harrigan. "Only U.S. citizens should be voting in U.S. elections, and 83% of Americans agree, including 71% of Democrats. This is about basic trust in the system.
