Brief Summary: Rectal cancer is a common type of cancer and an important cause of illness and death worldwide. In 2020, cancers of the colon and rectum were the fourth most common cancers globally, and about one third of these cases were rectal cancer. Surgery is the main treatment for rectal cancer.
