U.S., Jan. 24 -- The tourism industry is forecast to maintain steady growth up to 2022, driven by the rise of middle and upper classes in emerging economies, as well as the development of new destinations. With the number of international tourists set to reach 1.7 billion in 2022 and no country seeing a greater increase in international arrivals, travel experts forecast Japan to experience growth in the number of foreign visitors at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.3%, the largest increase among the countries observed.
