New York, Aug. 27 -- German world No. 4 Alexander Zverev shook off a late start and produced a composed performance to enter the second round of the 2025 US Open with a 6-2, 7-6(4), 6-4 win over Chile's Alejandro Tabilo inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Zverev, 28, needed just over two and a half hours to seal victory in his first-round match, which was part of the tournament's first-ever Sunday start. The 2020 US Open finalist broke in the opening game and dominated the first set, but had to fend off a spirited challenge from Tabilo in the second, saving a set point at 5-6 before taking control in the tiebreak.
