New York, Aug. 29 -- Third seed Alexander Zverev moved into the third round of the US Open today IST after defeating Britain's Jacob Fearnley 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in Louis Armstrong Stadium.
The German, still in search of his maiden Grand Slam title, produced a controlled display, breaking Fearnley in the opening game of the first set and maintaining pressure throughout the contest.
Although the 22-year-old Briton raised his level in the third set, Zverev eventually closed out the match on his sixth match point. "There are no easy matches. The level of tennis is improving with everybody playing great these days," Zverev said after the win.
