Aizawl, July 29 -- The ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) spokesperson K. Laltluangkima today defended Chief Minister Lalduhoma's acquisition of a new car, arguing that it is not excessively costly compared to the cars of other state leaders.

Speaking at a press conference at the Aizawl Press Club, Laltluangkima acknowledged that Lalduhoma had pledged during the 2023 elections that, if elected, he would refrain from using an expensive car.

"Indeed, he made that promise. After taking office, he used a 15-year-old car inherited from his predecessors. However, due to its frequent need for repairs, a new Toyota was purchased for the chief minister. The cost of the car ranges from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 32 lakh.
