Aizawl, Dec. 15 -- In a dramatic turn of events, Mizoram's ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) and the principal opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) on Monday announced an agreement to jointly form the executive committee of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC).
The two parties have constituted a joint legislature bloc named the Lairam Legislature Party (LLP), comprising eight MNF members and six from the ZPM.
In a joint statement, the 14 members of district council (MDCs) said ZPM legislature party leader T. Zakunga has been elected leader of the LLP and will assume charge as Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the LADC.
