Aizawl, July 18 -- Calling out the governments of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh for "gross violations" of indigenous rights, a six-member delegation of the Zo Re-Unification Organisation (ZORO) made a strong case for the Zo people at the 18th Session of the United Nations Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) held in Geneva from July 14 to 18.
Speaking before international delegates at the UN headquarters, ZORO representatives alleged that the fencing of the India-Myanmar border, forced displacement in Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tracts, and the recent ethnic violence in Manipur were all in direct contravention of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) 2007-particularly Articles 7, 8, 9, 10,...
