Aizawl, July 20 -- Aizawl's Judicial Magistrate First Class has acquitted two men accused of plotting to assassinate former Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, citing lack of conclusive evidence.

The court ruled on Wednesday that Rodinliana (39), a resident of Khawzawl in eastern Mizoram, and Chanchinmawia (49) from Hnahthial town in the south, cannot be convicted as the prosecution failed to establish their guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The judgment came after detailed hearings involving testimony from cybercrime officials, witnesses, and the accused themselves.

Although the court acknowledged that there were grounds for suspicion, it concluded that the case lacked the requisite proof to secure a conviction.
