Chandigarh, Dec. 17 -- : Vote counting for Punjab's Block Committees and Zila Parishads is underway on Wednesday, with results awaited for 347 Zila Parishad seats and 2,838 Block Committee seats across the state. While no Zila Parishad result had been officially declared at the time of reporting, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as the leading party in the Block Committees.

A notable development was reported from the Daulatpur zone of Moga, where Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) candidate Gurdarshan Singh was initially declared the winner by a margin of nine votes. Following an objection raised by the AAP candidate, a recount was conducted, which increased Singh's winning margin to 34 votes.
