Shillong, Oct. 29 -- Former Meghalaya Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Zenith M Sangma on Wednesday officially rejoined the Congress giving the grand old party of hope for revival in the state.

Sangma, the younger brother senior TMC legislator and former Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma, had quit the Congress along with 11 other then Congress MLAs joined the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC in November 2021. He was with the Congress for over 30 years and had been elected to the Meghalaya Assembly for three times.

"The Congress is an old family," a jubilated Sangma told reporters after rejoining the party and immediately described the incumbent National People's Party (NPP)-led government as a "corrupt government".
