Chennai, June 27 -- A youth attempted to sexually assault a visiting student in the IIT Madras campus today.
The victim, a student of other institute, was said to have to come to the campus to meet her friend when the incident took place.
Reports said the student was forcefully threatened by a North Indian youth who grabbed and pulled her hair.
Acting on information, Kotturpuram All Women Police Station arrested the youth and are questioning him.
In a media statement, the IIT-Madras said ''An unfortunate incident happened at IIT Madras campus on 25th June 2025, where a contractual employee of a vendor operating in IITM campus misbehaved with a woman student, visiting from other Institute."
