Chandigarh, Jan. 16 -- A young man riding a scooter was stabbed to death in broad daylight near the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Sector 37 here on Friday, triggering concern over public safety in a busy administrative area of the city. The attack was carried out by two assailants who arrived on a motorcycle and fled after the assault.
According to police, the victim, identified as Sumit, a resident of Mauli Jagran in Chandigarh, was attacked with knives near a petrol pump close to the BJP office. He sustained multiple stab wounds, including on his back, and collapsed after riding a short distance due to excessive blood loss. He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared him dead.
