Kolkata, Nov. 27 -- A youth was allegedly lynched to death during a kangaroo court over a land dispute between the family members at Kaliachak in West Bengal's Malda district, police said today.

Malda Police detained seven people, accused of lynching Ekramul Sheikh and injuring seven others when clashes broke out between them over a land while the kangaroo court (salishi sabha) was in progress at Raj Nagar village early this morning.

Police said they have so far detained seven accused and interrogated them as more arrests are expected.

The ruling TMC leaders had arranged the salishi sabha as the members of the disputing family were the supporters of the ruling party, a source said.
