Mohali, Nov. 26 -- A protest march by the Youth Congress towards the Governor's House in Chandigarh on Wednesday escalated into a confrontation after police stopped protesters at the Mohali border.
Security forces had set up heavy barricades near the Furniture Market area to prevent the demonstrators from entering the union Territory.
Tensions rose when several protestors climbed the barricades and attempted to cross forcibly. Within minutes, a scuffle ensued between police personnel and Youth Congress members.
Some protestors even brought a tractor forward in an effort to break the barriers, intensifying the standoff. Police officials then detained multiple leaders and escorted them away in buses.
