Saharanpur, Oct. 18 -- A young couple from Suakhedi village, under the Sarsawa police station area, died after reportedly consuming a poisonous substance near a canal.
The couple was found unconscious by villagers near the Kalri railway underpass and was rushed to the Government Medical College in Pilkhani, where they passed away during treatment, police confirmed today.
The deceased have been identified as Gaurav (25), son of Manesar, and Kajal (24), both residents of the same village. According to local residents and police sources, the two had been in a close relationship for around four years. However, their families opposed their marriage due to traditional and social considerations.
