Aizawl, May 25 -- In a significant push against HIV spread and drug abuse, the Young Mizo Association (YMA) central committee - the largest community-based organisation among Mizos - and the Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) have pledged to work closely together to address the twin challenges threatening the state.
At a consultative meeting held at the central YMA hall in Aizawl, MSACS project Director Dr Jane R. Ralte revealed alarming figures: since October 1990, Mizoram has recorded 32,544 HIV infections, with 2,021 new cases reported in the 2024-2025 fiscal year alone.
