Moscow, June 4 -- Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Rashad al-Alimi said in an interview with Sputnik that he discussed security and political cooperation during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On May 28, al-Alimi paid an official visit to Russia and met with Putin in the Kremlin.
"The meeting with President Vladimir Putin was important. We discussed prospects for cooperation in politics, economics and security, as well as developments in Yemen and the necessary role of Russia in supporting efforts to end the war unleashed by the Houthis," al-Alimi said.
He noted that the visit took place as part of the PLC's efforts to strengthen "historical relations" between Yemen and Russia.
