Beijing, June 25 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping will not attend the 17th BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled for July 6-7, the South China Morning Post newspaper reported on Wednesday, citing sources.
The Chinese delegation may be headed by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, the report read.
The reason why Xi will skip the summit in Rio de Janeiro is that the Chinese leader has already met twice with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in less than a year, the report noted.
