Beijing, Dec. 31 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping, giving his annual televised New Year's address, on Wednesday urged the country to ramp up efforts in boosting economic growth, and accelerate its ongoing drive for technological advancements. He also declared that Taiwan's "reunification" with the mainland was an "unstoppable trend".
As Beijing continues to grow on the global stage, while facing a series of problems both on the geopolitical front, amid intensifying rivalries with the US, and on the national front, Xi called the coming year a one critical for Beijing's long-term economic trajectory.
