Bengaluru, Sept. 29 -- X Corp announced it will file an appeal against the Karnataka High Court's recent verdict upholding the legality of the Central government's Sahyog portal, an online platform used for issuing content takedown orders.
The company expressed concern that the ruling allows millions of police officers to issue arbitrary takedown directives without judicial review, violating Indian citizens' constitutional rights to freedom of speech and circumventing Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
X Corp stated that while it respects Indian law, the High Court order fails to address key constitutional issues and conflicts with a recent Bombay High Court ruling that a similar regime was unconstitutional.
