Itanagar, July 25 -- In a major step towards preserving and honouring the legacy of World War II, efforts are underway to transform key historical sites in Arunachal Pradesh into world-class memorials.
A delegation from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), Delhi, today conducted a preliminary inspection to assess these sites and explore their upgradation to Commonwealth standards.
The CWGC team, led by Amit Bansal, Regional Head for the Indian Subcontinent, and Salew Pfotte, Manager for Guwahati and Digboi, undertook a detailed survey of important sites, including the WW-II Cemetery, Laal Pool, Hamilton Bridge, Hell Gate, and the historic section of the Old Stilwell Road leading to Pangsau Pass.
