New Delhi, June 12 -- Hours after a London-bound Air India plane crashed soon after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday, the British High Commission in India said it is working with local authorities to urgently establish the facts and provide support.
British nationals, who require consular assistance or have concerns about friends or family, should call 0207008 5000, as per the website of the Commission. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick was carrying 242 passengers and 12 crew members including two pilots, said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). There were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British, one Canadian and seven Portuguese nationals on board.
