Chennai, April 1 -- Women's representation has emerged as a significant topic in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, with major political parties fielding a notable number of women across constituencies, reflecting a gradual shift toward inclusive political participation.

The ruling DMK, contesting in 164 constituencies, has fielded 18 women candidates, including one of the two sitting Ministers, for the April 23 Assembly polls.
