Kolkata, Dec. 29 -- A woman was seriously injured after she was allegedly attacked by her lover inside a guest house in central Kolkata's Bibi Ganguly Street area on Sunday afternoon.
The accused man has been arrested on charges of attempting to murder her.
According to police sources, the woman, a 38-year-old resident of North 24 Parganas, had checked into the guest house with her lover, Pradeep Kumar Selvaraj (around 40), a resident of Chennai. The two were reportedly in a romantic relationship.
A short while after they took a room, a violent incident took place behind closed doors.
It is alleged that Pradeep attacked the woman multiple times with a sharp weapon, injuring her shoulder, hands and other parts of her body.
