Kolkata, Nov. 3 -- A suspect, accused of shooting and critically injuring a woman in her 50s while she was on a morning stroll near her house at Haridevpur in south Kolkata, was arrested while he was fleeing from the city, official sources said today.
The suspect, identified as Bablu Ghosh, a chicken meat trader in the local market at Haridevpur, was arrested during a hot chase by police while he was fleeing the city in a chartered car from the Alipore area.
The married woman received bullet wounds on her back and has been admitted to the state-owned MR Bangur hospital. The woman has been shifted to the SSKM Hospital after her condition deteriorated.
