Patna, July 19 -- In a crackdown on corruption, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB), Bihar, today arrested the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Women's Police Station in Samastipur, Poonam Kumari, and her personal driver, Guddu Kumar, while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
Sources at the Vigilance Bureau said here that a trap was laid following a complaint and both were arrested red handed.
The complainant Rajeev Ranjan Singh, a resident of Chhatouna village under Mufassil police station in Samastipur district had alleged that the SHO had demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 to avoid registering an FIR against him based on an application received at the Women's Police Station.
