Satara, Oct. 25 -- A 28-year-old woman medical officer from Satara district died by suicide after allegedly facing sexual assault and sustained harassment by a police officer.
The deceased, identified as Dr. Sampada Munde from Beed district, was found dead in a Phaltan hotel room yesterday. She was serving as a medical officer at Phaltan Sub-District Hospital.
In a suicide note inscribed on her palm, Dr. Munde accused Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Gopal Badane of repeatedly raping her over a period of five months, and named Prashant Bankar, described as a civilian, for continuous mental harassment. The note also indicated prolonged psychological torment.
