Chennai, Feb. 3 -- In a sudden development, senior leader and former BJP Tamil Nadu Unit President K. Annamalaion Tuesday announced that he was stepping down as election in-charge with the Assembly polls a few weeks away.
Mr Annamalai, who had been appointed as the in-charge for six assembly constituencies, said he was relinquishingthese roles due to personal reasons, including the need to attend to his ailing father.
He said since it was his foremost duty to take care of his ailing father and has been staying long in Coimbatore, hecould not extensively travel for poll-related activities and hence decided to step down as the BJP election in-charge.
