Srinagar, Sept. 18 -- The J&K government today said it cleared 4,873 fruit-laden trucks from the Valley in the past two days to ensure smooth transportation for growers and traders.

The Srinagar Jammu highway was reopened yesterday after nearly three weeks of disruptions resulting in massive losses to fruit growers.

A government spokesman said in a major push to support fruit growers and traders, the Divisional Administration successfully facilitated the evacuation of 4,873 fruit-laden trucks over the past two days. The operation, supervised by IG Traffic included evacuation of 2,239 trucks via the Srinagar Jammu National Highway and 2,634 via the Mughal Road.
