Pankaj Jain, Feb. 3 -- BJP MLA Harish Khurana on Tuesday said Delhi's ongoing ration card re-verification drive has flagged irregularities in around 2.02 lakh ration cards involving 7.71 lakh beneficiaries, asserting that no ration card has been deleted and that SMS alerts were sent only for verification.

Addressing the media, Khurana said the exercise is being carried out under Clause 4(19) of the Targeted Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2015, which mandates periodic review of beneficiary lists.

He said Aadhaar-linked data is being cross-verified with income tax, vehicle registration and other government databases to identify fake, duplicate and ineligible beneficiaries.
