Kolkata, Dec. 17 -- In an unusual situation, the West Bengal Legislative Assembly is unlikely to hold its winter session this year due to a combination of time constraints and political engagements ahead of the Assembly elections.
Sources in the Assembly said there is hardly any time left for the winter session as the announcement of winter holidays is imminent, making it difficult to make arrangements for the final session before the polls.
The situation has been further affected by the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
The Commission released the first revised draft voter list following the SIR on Tuesday, keeping political parties and legislators heavily occupied.
