New Delhi, July 17 -- Plastic pollution is no longer confined to oceans and urban waste.

A new study "A Death Trap in the Nest: Anthropogenic Nest Materials Cause High Mortality in a Terrestrial Bird," has revealed that our winged friends and their chicks are gasping for breath in nests meant to shelter them - their tiny bodies caught in the deadly grip of plastic ropes, bags, and synthetic threads.

The research, conducted by scientists from the University of East Anglia (UEA), University of Montpellier, and the University of Lisbon, focused on the impact of human-derived materials in the nests of white storks in southern Portugal.
