Srinagar, Oct. 31 -- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today refrained from commenting on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's remarks about statehood, saying he had not yet read the statement.

While addressing the UT Diwas celebrations in Srinagar - an event not attended by the J&K Chief Minister or any of his ministers - Lt Governor Sinha said that the elected government has full authority and should focus on governance rather than linking progress to the restoration of statehood.

While Omar didn't react, NC president Farooq Abdullah dismissed Sinha's comments outright, saying, "He is lying."Omar said that he would first like to see the words LG has used.
