Srinagar, Sept. 30 -- J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said he would prefer to step down rather than join hands with the BJP for the restoration of statehood.

He asserted that statehood to Jammu and Kashmir should not come at the cost of compromising with the BJP. "If I have to wait to see statehood restored to J&K again, I will wait for it," Omar said while addressing a function in south Kashmir's Achabal area.

Speaking about the last year post Assembly election scenario, the CM said he had two options -- one way was tested by Peoples Democratic Party in 2015.
