Agartala, Aug. 8 -- In a late night operation, West Tripura district police today seized 90,000 Yaba tablets worth about Rs 1.35 crore from an auto-rickshaw near Amtali bypass on the outskirts of Agartala.

Yaba is a combination of methamphetamine (a strong and addictive stimulant) and caffeine. Yaba tablets are banned in India as they come under Schedule II substance under the Controlled Substances Act.

"We had received specific information about illegal activities in the Amtali bypass area. Acting on the input, we stepped up surveillance and got success," said Namit Pathak, Superintendent of Police (West).
