Kolkata, March 15 -- : The Election Commission on Sunday announced that the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal will be conducted in two phases on April 23 and 29 for the 294 constituencies of the state.
The counting of votes will be held on May 4.
According to the schedule released by the Election Commission, the first phase of polling will be conducted for 152 Assembly seats spread across 16 districts on April 23. This leg will cover the entire North Bengal region along with several districts in other parts of the state.
Districts in North Bengal where polling will be held in the first phase are Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar. North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Malda.
