Kolkata, Aug. 11 -- The West Bengal government has, for now, declined to comply with the Election Commission of India's (ECI) directive to suspend four officials and a data entry operator over alleged irregularities in the electoral rolls of Baruipur East in South 24 Parganas and Moyna in East Midnapore, removing only one official and the data entry operator from election-related duties.
On August 8, the ECI sent a reminder to Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, reiterating its earlier order to suspend two Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), two Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and a data entry operator, and to file FIRs against them.
